MOTORSPORT Aftermarket Group (MAG), the parent company of motorcycle parts and accessories brands including Performance Machine and Küryakyn among others, has moved into a new area of business with announcement of its acquisition of the Cycle News brand.
The magazine, which was published weekly for 40 years until its closure in August 2010, is now available online at cyclenews.com.
Not only has MAG acquired the Cycle News brand, it has also recruited the title’s former Editor Paul Carruthers, who headed the magazine from 1994 until just prior to its closure.
“Cycle News has a rich history and has always been there for both the industry and enthusiasts,” said MAG President and CEO Brian Etter. “Many of us grew up reading Cycle News, and its name has meant a tremendous amount to all of us who love the sport. We are committed to the Cycle News brand and to its readership, and we will work diligently to take it to the next level.
“In his 25 years with Cycle News, Paul earned the respect and confidence of the industry and its enthusiasts and we are thrilled that he will return,” Etter continued. “We are looking forward to working with Paul and his team to move the brand forward.”
“I am confident we can put together a quality team to bring Cycle News back to where it belongs – at the forefront of motorcycle media,” Carruthers said. “Having a company like MAG behind us will ensure its success.”
